Hi there, my friends!
This is the first endeavor in my life where I’ve jumped in with the acceptance/intention/plan that it will be ever-emerging, non-linear, intuitively created ~ a truly dynamic process ~ that I’m using to communicate about something that is multi-faceted and highly dynamic: generations!
I’m delighted to have this space to bring my thoughts into words and images. These thoughts have been actively living in my head. 🤓 I frequently talk about them with people who are interested—but I hadn’t imagined how wonderful it could feel to put them to words and images. Thanks for sharing this experience with me.
A helpful reader suggested that the name of my newsletter be something that would be more indicative of the focus of my writing.
[What? Is this an emerging twist so early in this process? Yes it is!]
So today I’m excited to announce a name-change for my column:
▼ You Are Here . . . is becoming. . . The Generational Lens
This week I created my About Me page. It seemed like the next logical post. I hope y’all will enjoy hearing a bit more about me and what I have to share.
Best, Mo
Want to get clearer about this crazy, complex world in which we are living?
Everyone alive today is a part of this new era, but not all of us have gotten our sure footing in a world that is no longer seemingly slow, nor still.
The ability to thrive in our modern, dynamic, ever-emerging time
is what we can gain from understanding generational dynamics.
✨ Generations change and form culture.
In just the past few decades, generational dynamics have caused a stir. The way we see and think about generations has changed significantly during our lifetime.
Modern generational theory provides a new framework for understanding our society—understanding each other. There are a multitude of insights that I’ve yet to see people write on. I want to share those with you.
You see, most of the chatter and buzz we hear about generations is actually the remnants of research funded by companies and retailers as they determine the changing workforce and consumer trends. (Like me, you may find this info fascinating, but not so actionable.)
This is not about that.
Here, we will cut through the noise, get a clearer understanding of the ever-changing generational dynamics happening today, and most importantly, find useful insights for our own individual life circumstances!
This is about You!
I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t wish for their own life to be less chaotic and uncertain.
It is my wish that as many of us as possible can experience the grounding that happens when we understand where we fit in, why others are behaving as they are, and how to think about what is ahead.
The focus of what I’ll share will always be geared towards helping you gain awareness that can make a meaningful difference in your own life.

This newsletter came about
because of the curiosity of my friends.
For over thirty years now, I’ve been fascinated about generations—more specifically, generational change. The more I understood generational dynamics, the clearer I began to see interactions in a new context, and well, to be honest, the calmer I became. Over time, with study and curiosity, I developed the ability to notice generational changes popping up around us before most people even noticed a shift was occurring.
Now, my friends are asking me to help them understand generations in a deeper way. This was the impetus that challenged me to see if I could explain with words and images what I’ve come to understand about generational dynamics. This is how I ended up posting here on substack. I’m excited to share it with all of you!
Who Am I?
Well, thank you for asking!
I’m an insatiably curious person.
The heart of all my thoughts and actions comes from a deeply empathetic place that has guided me all my life. Being deeply empathetic has not been an easy route, but I haven’t figured out how to override that part, so I just kept on.
I experienced the quintessential Anglo-American childhood in the 1960s . . .
which means I was deeply conditioned in the values and behaviors of the peak Pre-Boomer era (the industrial age, rise of the middle class and male dominated thinking). I have a profound, embedded awareness of the era, an era that is fading among us. Millions and millions of us share this awareness.
But a new era is upon us!
Come along as we learn to do this together.
